Homeownership Services - Model Cities of Saint Paul
Offers a holistic approach to future homeowners by offering a fully supported curriculum to their unique situations. Helps clients navigate the challenges to homeownership and educates them how to anticipate future issues. Homebuyer Workshops are offered in a classroom setting known as HomeStretch or through on online course known as Framework. The educator is certified in the curriculum and will help potential homebuyers understand the homebuying process. The classroom component features presentations, professional real estate experts, and a workshop manual is provided. Upon completion participants receive a certificate. Course runs 8 hours. Pre-purchase Counseling offers individuals a chance to meet with a homeownership advisor who will analyze income, credit, debt, and work history to develop a strategy to overcome homeownership obstacles. To achieve home ownership, additional referrals may be made to counseling resources, mortgage lenders, and other real estate professionals. Counseling topics may include: - Determining what is affordable - Developing a budget and savings plan - Finding the right mortgage product - Reviewing credit reporting and addressing credit problems (fee involved if pulling credit report) - Creating a custom action plan for manageable steps toward goals
