Vehicle Repair Program - Cars for Neighbors

Provides no cost safety repairs to Anoka County residents who cannot afford to have their vehicle fixed. Vehicle must be running and only need safety repairs; not major repairs such as transmissions, engines, etc.

Intake Program and Services

Application process

- Call or visit online for an application - Application: https://www.carsforneighbors.org/wp-content/uploads/CFN-Car-Repair-Application-061821.pdf - Completed application and documentation can be submitted via email or mailed. Staff will reach out via email with any additional needed documentation. Once client is approved, they will be sent to partner shop for an estimate. The partner shop contacts staff with the inspection results and an estimate of work to be done. Staff will determine what safety repairs can be performed with alotted grant amount. - Staff will contact the client to set up an appointment for repair

Required documents

Completed application; 3 months of income statements; valid driver's license; valid auto insurance; vehicle title in applicant's name

Eligibility

- Adults ages 21 and older and are current residents of Anoka County for at least 6 months - Car insurance and name of owner registered on the vehicle - Low to moderate-income - Employed and have a valid driver's license that shows their current address - Must not have received previous assistance from Cars for Neighbors or Free to Be, Inc.
