Hennepin County Veterans Service Office - Hennepin County Human Services - Social Services
Helps service members, veterans, survivors, and their families navigate the Veterans Administration benefits system. Members are assigned a Veteran Service Representative based on their location. A Veteran Service Representative may assist with the following: - Access benefits to disability compensation, pensions, survivors' pension, and other benefits. Must be temporarily disabled and unable to work for at least 30 days to be eligible for disability compensation. - Enroll in Veterans Health Administration (VHA) health care for medical, dental, emergency hospital care, nursing home benefits, and long-term care - Find mental health resources, military sexual trauma resources, mobile crisis teams, emergency suicide care, and treatment - Obtain military treatment and medical health records - Obtain burial benefits for veterans and eligible family members in federal, state, or private cemeteries - Request military discharge papers - Resolve and find resources such as housing assistance, homelessness, chemical health, and co-occurring disorders
