Description

Provides transportation for area Vets to VA Hospital or clinic in Minneapolis or St. Cloud. Rides scheduled in advance on a first come, first serve basis. Wives of Vets may ride along when room exists and utilize van to visit husbands at the VAMC. Printed schedules can be obtained from Veterans Services at 218-327-2858. Also available at VFW and American Legion Posts.

Provides transportation for area Veterans and their families to and from VA medical facilities only.

IT WILL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE VETERAN IF he/she requires transportation to ensure his/her appointment is scheduled for the day that the Van is going to a VA Medical center. Please have your appointments scheduled accordingly. The VA will only take scheduled appointments, there will be NO WALK-INS.

There is a fee to ride van. The fees are as follows:

  • $30 to Minneapolis
  • $25 to St. Cloud
  • $15 to Hibbing
  • $20 to Twin Ports
  • $20 to Brainerd

Fees double if only one passenger. If you pay the driver with a check it is to be made out to (ICVC) Itasca County Veteran's Council.

You must call the Van Coordinator (218)256-9100 for a ride as soon as you know you have an appointment. Your driver will call you the day before your appointment with a time to meet at the pick-up point. The only exception will be for veterans who absolutely can not drive or get a ride to the pick-up point, then prior arrangements must be made. Pleas allow one (1) week in advance to the day you are riding. If you do not call, you may find the Van not going or full and left without you! Please remember the Van is not equipped, nor are the drivers trained or qualified to handle medical emergencies. If you are wheel chair bound, please specify the amount of your mobility as the van DOES NOT have a wheel chair lift. The drivers can not help you in and out of the van.
