Eligibility
Child support services are available to residents of Dakota County who are:
- Parents of minor children if 1 parent does not live with the child
- Parents who pay child support through court-ordered income withholding
- People who have court-ordered, physical custody of a minor child
- People who receive public assistance for a minor child who lives in their home

The Child Support Division assists with:
- Adjusting court orders based on the cost-of-living index
- Collecting and processing payments
- Establishing parentage
- Establishing and enforcing court orders for child support, medical support, and child care support
- Locating parents
- Reviewing and modifying court orders for support
- Works with other states to enforce support when one parent does not live in Minnesota
