Agency Operations - Minnesota Department of Education

Supports children's development and assists in preparation for kindergarten entry, early childhood education programs, services that are offered throughout Minnesota school districts, and Head Start locations for children birth to five years and their families. These programs are administered by Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) and included in Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE), Early Childhood Screening, Early Head Start and Head Start, Infant and Toddler Intervention/Preschool Special Education and the School Readiness program. MDE serves as the lead agency for Part C Infant and Toddler Intervention Services. The special education division provides leadership to ensure a high-quality education for Minnesota's children and youth with disabilities. Specialists help students, parents, educators and administrators through guidance, training and sharing best practices in areas including educational programs in care and treatment facilities, secondary transition and statewide assessment for student in special education.
