Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) is a nutrition program that assists pregnant women, new mothers, infants, and young children to eat well, learn about nutrition and stay healthy. Many working and low-income families are eligible for WIC benefits. The WIC Program provides:
- Nutrition assessment and feeding tips
- Breastfeeding advice and support
- Referrals to health and social services
- Vouchers for healthy foods (for example, milk, fresh fruit and vegetables, and eggs) on a monthly or in some cases, every three months
