Yard waste: - Brush - Garden debris - Grass clippings - Holiday trees - Leaves - Small quantities of dirt and sod Food waste: - Keep a container lined with a compostable bag near the kitchen sink for plate scrapings and prep scraps - Wrap smelly food, like fish, in newspaper and freeze - Place food scraps in securely tied compostable bags - Never use plastic shopping bags - Twist-ties are okay Allowed: Anything that is or was edible, such as - Breads - Cheese - Coffee grounds and filters - Dough - Fish - Fruits - Meat - Old pet food - Pasta - Peels and pits - Raw and cooked food - Rice - Small bones - Spoiled or moldy food - Tea bags - Vegetables Not allowed: - Aluminum foil - Diapers - Dirt - Kitty litter - Liquids - Pet waste - Plastic wrap - Regular plastic bags or containers - Rocks
