Cultural Liaisons - Roseville Area Schools Independent School District 623
Cultural liaisons are a resource to school staff about working with students and families from other cultures. They create long-term relationships with the families to help guide their children's academic success and ultimately to a high school diploma. They also encourage bilingual families to participate in parent-teacher conferences and attend to provide interpretation for the conference. Liaisons may also perform outreach activities like helping families understand the American school systems and fill out school paperwork including school registration, immunizations, free & reduced lunch forms, transportation, scholarships, etc. They may also make phone calls and home visits with staff on re-occurring academic risk issues. Liaisons serve as on-staff interpreters for the Hmong, Somali, Spanish, Nepali, and Karen speaking families in our school district for Home-School communications between staff and parents, and for Early Childhood Screenings, Special Education Assessments, parent meetings, etc.
