Office of Ombudsman for Public Managed Health Care Programs - Minnesota Department of Human Services

Works with individuals enrolled in a health care plan for their Medical Assistance and MinnesotaCare health benefits to resolve service-related issues, ensuring access to medically appropriate services. Provides support to General Relief recipients, including those receiving county-funded cash grants and emergency assistance, by addressing disputes and complaints through mediation, negotiation, education, or referrals to appropriate agencies or legal services. Offers guidance on the complaint and appeal processes available through health plans and the state. Educates consumers about their rights, relevant laws, regulations, and health care financing through written materials, consultations, or public speaking. Advocates for legislative and systemic reforms in health care and social services to better meet consumer needs.
