High Rise Mobile Food Shelf Program - East Side Neighborhood Services

Provides a mobile food shelf to residents of select subsidized housing, high rise buildings in Hennepin County. Most sites receive a delivery twice a month. Over 300 residents volunteer to receive the food, set up the food shelf in the building's community room, and distribute it to their neighbors.

Eligibility

- Must be a resident of the building - Household income must be less than 200% of federal poverty guidelines (written verification of income is not required) - Complete and sign annual enrollment form providing name, address, and birthdate of each household member. Signature provides verification that income guidelines have been met.

Administers a broad range of community based social services including: childcare (infants, toddlers, and preschool), summer camp, out-of-school time programs, an alternative high school, employment services for all ages, therapy services including creative arts therapy and a family healing program, food shelves across Hennepin County, transportation services, and classes for older adults including fitness and caregiving support. Also provides facility rental for meetings and events.
