Eligibility

Homeowners and renters who are residents of Freeborn County. Homeowners and renters who are approved for the Energy Assistance Program are automatically screened for participation in the Weatherization program.

Program Fees

  • No Fee
A year-round program to provide energy saving home improvements to income-eligible households to reduce energy use and cost. The weatherization process begins with an energy audit where trained staff will assess and document the energy conservation needs of your home. Energy Auditors will:
  • Check insulation levels in attic and walls
  • Inspect attic for air bypasses
  • Measure home for heat loss
  • Perform a safety and efficiency test on the heating system and water heater
  • Provide home energy education
  • Provide recommendations for repair, replacement, or improvements of the heating and mechanical systems when necessary
