Conservation Corps Program - Conservation Corps Minnesota and Iowa
Summer Youth Corps: Provides summer jobs for youth ages 15 to 18 who are hearing, deaf, or hard-of-hearing. Corps members reside in a residential camp at St. Croix State Park, working 40 hours per week, with 35 hours dedicated to the project site and 5 hours allocated to environmental education. Corps members work outdoors, developing environmental and conservation skills, life skills, and career education planning. Youth are paid minimum wage. Youth crews are supervised by adults aged 19 and older who receive a living allowance and an AmeriCorps education award upon completion of their service.?? Youth Outdoors: Offers after-school employment opportunities for Minneapolis and Ramsey County youth ages 15 to 18. Youth meet three times a week with a small group of other youth and two adult corps members at one of several base sites. Youth participate in workshops and educational activities to learn about teamwork, leadership, the environment, science, and civic engagement. Youth also work outdoors and in city parks on natural-resource projects like planting trees, restoring native habitat, monitoring water quality or cleaning up parks and rivers. Youth have the opportunity to be creative and take leadership in crew meetings, plan work projects and recreation activities, and engage their own communities in the work they do. In return, they receive valuable job training and earn money through a stipend. Young Adult Program: Offers year-round, nonresidential opportunities across the state for participants aged 18-25. Participants work in crews of 4 - 5 on natural resource conservation projects. Corps members receive a monthly stipend and an AmeriCorps education award of $2775 - 5550 upon completing the service term. Seasonal crew positions are also available.
