Emergency Assistance - EA - Southwest Health and Human Services
Cash-grant program for families with low incomes experiencing household emergencies. Families can receive assistance once every 12 months. The assistance received must resolve the crisis. Families must use their own money first. The amount of assistance provided might not cover the entire emergency, but it can help. Short-term grant assistance for families in a financial crisis because of: - In situations of threat of eviction from a landlord/management or homelessness as a result of domestic abuse, rent and/or rental deposit assistance is provided. Mortgage payment assistance is not considered unless the family is in foreclosure or experiencing difficulty from an employment crisis. - In situations of utility (electricity, fuel oil, natural gas, propane, sewer, or water) shut-off and refusal of service for fuel, deposit and payment assistance is provided - Financial aid is provided directly to the vendor

Eligibility
- Low income families who have been residents of Lincoln, Lyon, Murray, Pipestone, Redwood, and Rock counties for at least 30 days - Income must be within 200% of the Federal Poverty Guideline
