Orchestral Training - Minnesota Youth Symphonies
Through auditions, a select group of musicians is placed into one of four orchestras according to their abilities and talents: Strings, Philharmonic, Repertory, and Symphony. Orchestras have three sectionals each season, once each trimester, with members of the Minnesota Orchestra. Orchestras give three major concerts per season at Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis, as well as chamber ensemble, compositions, and solo competition performances throughout the season. Minnesota Youth Symphonies offers additional programs and services to the community: - Children's Concert Club: Offers children's service organizations reduced rate tickets to concerts - Music Education courses on Saturday mornings - free for Minnesota Youth Symphonies students - Music & Melody Makers brings preschool and elementary students and parents to Minnesota Youth Symphonies rehearsals to have a "hands-on" experience by trying out orchestral instruments and interact with musicians - String Studio program, in cooperation with the Folwell Performing Arts Magnet in Minneapolis, provides free school-day lessons on violin and viola to children in grades 4 - 6
