Sun Bucks - Summer Food Service Program - Statewide 2026
Eligibility
- Children ages 7 - 17 who have a member of their household that participates in any of the following programs are automatically enrolled: Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR), Medical Assistance (MA), Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Tribal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)- Children ages 7 - 17 who are in foster care, homeless, migrant, or runaway- Children ages 7 - 17 whose family meets income requirements (visit website for income requirements: https://dcyf.mn.gov/sun-bucks)

Income-based food support program that provides families with $120 per eligible school-aged child to buy groceries when school is out for the summer. SUN Bucks cards can be used just like an EBT card.Benefits can be used at authorized retailers, such as grocery stores and farmers' markets, to purchase healthy foods such as fruits, vegetables, meats and other protein sources, whole grains, and dairy. SUN Bucks benefits will expire 122 days after the benefit availability date.Eligible children are automatically enrolled. Notice of eligibility messages for 2026 have been sent to families of eligible children. SUN Bucks cards will be mailed within 10 days of eligibility notice and addressed to the eligible child. Parents should make sure the child's name is on the mailbox, as the post office might not deliver the card if the child is not a known resident of the address.
