Women, Infants and Children - WIC - Goodhue County Health and Human Services

Provides nutrition education and special foods which promote good health for pregnant, breastfeeding, and post-partum women with infants and/or children up to age 5. WIC provides the following services: - Assistance with any special needs - Health assessment and screening - Nutrition education - Referral to other community services Cards are given to participants to take to the store to purchase nutritious foods such as cereal, cheese, eggs, infant formula, fruits, vegetables, milk, and peanut butter.

Application process

WIC is not an entitlement program and therefore applicants participate in a screening and assessment process to determine eligibility, benefits provided for a specified amount of time (i.e. until the end of the pregnancy, the first birthday, and six month increments for children)

Eligibility

Resident who is: - A woman who is pregnant, postpartum, or breastfeeding and has children birth to 5 years of age. - Residing in Minnesota. - Family income less than 185% of the national poverty level.
