Eligibility

  • Veterans and their family members who are residents of Martin County- State subsistence is available to a veteran or a surviving spouse if they are disabled and prevented from working in their normal occupation for at least 30 days or have a disabling medical condition within one year of the Veteran's death.

Provides assistance and support to veterans and their dependents in obtaining benefits through county, federal, and state programs, including:- Burial and death benefits- Dental and healthcare benefits- Disability compensation- Education and training- Home loan guarantees- Job placement services- Mental health services- Pension benefits- Referrals to community resources for substance use treatment, dental, and medical services- State Subsistence Assistance: Financial assistance for healthcare insurance premiums, personal needs funds, shelter-associated payments (association dues, homeowners' insurance, mortgage, rent, room and board, and property taxes), and utility assistance (cell phone, electric, gas, internet, propane, sanitation/sewer, and water).
