Eligibility
Licensed adult foster care providers must meet minimum licensing standards: must reside in Fillmore County in a home that meets fire-safety code; be at least 18 years of age; allow the county or state to complete a criminal history background check on all household members who are 13 years of age or older; provide a physician's statement for all household members stating they are physically able to care for vulnerable adult(s) placed in the home; provide 3 positive references; must have bedroom space available for resident(s) and have an approved fire inspection; complete a home study of the family; and meet required training hours annually; serves Fillmore County

Fillmore County Community Services (Social Services) provides general information and licensing for persons interested in becoming foster care providers. Also provides training and support for foster care providers on emergency, short-term and long-term placement.
This office also provides temporary foster care when it best serves the interest of the child or vulnerable adult. The County also recruits and trains foster homes and monitors foster care for the safety of the individual.
