Eligibility

  • Veterans and their dependents who are residents of Olmsted County- State Subsistence is available to a veteran or a surviving spouse if they are disabled and prevented from working at their normal occupation for at least 30 days or without a disabling medical condition within one year of the Veteran's death.

Program Fees

Provides assistance and support to veterans and their dependents in obtaining benefits through state and federal programs, including:- Applying for health care enrollment for VA health care including primary medical care, medications, inpatient and outpatient care, chemical dependency, optometry, orthopedics, podiatry, audiology, and more- Burial benefits - Claims for compensation and pension- Education - Employment - Housing including VA home loan, State Veterans Homes (long term care, board, and care), and homeless resources - Legal clinics- Obtain a DD-214/discharge papers - Recreational/discounts for veterans - Temporary financial assistance through State Soldiers and Assistance Programs (SSAP) including dental, optical, special needs education benefits, substance assistance, and war orphan benefits.
