Citizen's Police Academy - Saint Paul Police Department
Community members participate in training modeled after the Police Academy program that police officers complete. Classes will include shoot/don't shoot scenarios and meeting the K-9 and mounted patrol units. Firearms, defensive tactics, community policing and forensic work also will be included. The academy is a prerequisite to serving on the St. Paul Police Civilian Internal Affairs Review Commission The academy is not intended to serve as accredited law enforcement courses but merely to provide insight to the internal workings of the police department.
