Eligibility

  • Veterans and their dependents who are residents of Dodge County - State Subsistence is available to a veteran or a surviving spouse if they are disabled and prevented from working at their normal occupation for at least 30 days or without a disabling medical condition within one year of the Veteran's death.

Provides assistance and support to veterans and their dependents in obtaining benefits through county, federal, and state programs including:- Burial benefits- Financial assistance through the V.A. for dental work- G.I. Bill education assistance- G. I. Bill life insurance- Home loan guaranteed by the U.S.D.V.A.- Information about and referrals to other service agencies for chemical dependency treatment and vocational rehabilitation- Outpatient medical care through the V.A.- Service-connected disability compensation- Subsistence grants provides cash assistance in the form of shelter payments (rent and mortgage), utilities (electric, gas, heating, and water), and personal needs grants to veterans who are unable to work as a result of a temporary disability. There are strict income and asset requirements.- Survivors and dependents education- Transportation to Minneapolis VA Medical Center- Veteran/military health insurance- Veteran survivor insurance
