- Families in need of shelter in Hennepin County - Age limit for children is 18; 18 year olds must verify attendance in high school - Must be a U.S. citizen or have a child that is a U.S. citizen; clients with a permanent residency card or 'legal status' are ineligible; refugees may be eligible on a case-by-case basis
Birth certificate for families with children photo ID proof of residency (piece of mail, application of new ID, rental lease, bus ticket, etc.) shelter verification verification of the last 30 days of income and assets including any other supporting documents
- Phone: Hennepin Shelter Hotline 8 am - 9 pm Monday - Friday 1 pm - 9 pm Saturday, Sunday, and holidays - After Hours: Call 211 after 9 pm/7 days a week and holidays - Daytime and Afterhours Team: Phonelines open 7 days a week. The Shelter Team will be utilizing phone, email, fax, and also have drop boxes available.

For calls received outside of business hours, leave a voicemail, and calls will be returned the next day. - All public facing services are closed to walk-in traffic, including all Human Services Centers. All Shelter Team services will be offered by phone only. The Daytime and Afterhours staff will be manning the phones 7 days a week. The Shelter Team will be utilizing phone, email, fax, and also have drop boxes available.
