Adoption, Lost and Found, and Surrender Services - Carver Scott Humane Society

- Accepts surrenders of cats, dogs, kittens, and puppies and enables them to be available for adoption - Accepts reports of lost or found animals - Before animals are adopted, the agency vaccinates puppies against rabies, checks for feline leukemia, uses heartworm tests, and provides heartworm preventative to healthy dogs or gives dogs who test positive for heartworm a second chance by treating them. Also uses microchip technology and spaying/neutering of adult animals prior to adoption. - Fur Keeps: Keeps pets with their owners by providing resources, assistance, and training to help families and pets stay together. Shelter diversion, emergency financial assistance for veterinary care (pays for 50% of the service with a $1,000 maximum, visit website for additional details), and pet food (2-week supply of food provided per pet per family once within a calendar month) are provided. - Low-kill organization. Does not euthanize based on supply and demand of pet overpopulation. Works with participating vets and only euthanizes animals deemed un-adoptable due to severe health issues or un-remediable behavior problems, such as aggression and biting.
