Student Hunger Collaborative - Volunteers Enlisted to Assist People - VEAP

Provides a supplemental food program for students who are identified as at risk of being hungry over the weekend. Assures children's food needs are met so they come back to school on Monday ready to learn.

Required documents

- Application/registration form - Head of household photo ID and current, official business mail dated within the last 60 days of appointment must be presented at each visit. Examples of acceptable mail include utility or medical bill, bank statement, government correspondence. If head of household is unable to come to scheduled appointment, they may send someone in their place with the head of household business mail dated within the last 60 days and any required IDs for children. The person picking up for the head of household must present photo ID. - Children 18 years of age and younger who have not been identified at VEAP during the current calendar year must bring one original document with the child's name and date of birth (birth certificate, vaccination record, medical record, school document, UCare card or MHCP card) to the first distribution. No copies accepted and no service without proper documentation.

Eligibility

- Residents of Bloomington, Edina, Richfield or south Minneapolis (west of Cedar Avenue and south of 50th Street) who have children living with them entering grades K - 12 and who are eligible to receive free and reduced school lunch or are in financial need - Student Hunger Collaborative: Eligibility is determined by individual school districts
