Metro HRA - Metropolitan Council
Provides housing assistance for low-income individuals and families that include at least one adult with a serious mental illness while they wait for a Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) or another rental subsidy. Eligible use for Bridges funding includes temporary rental assistance payments and security deposits paid directly to the landlord on behalf of qualified participants. Administers programs that offer housing assistance payments as well as support services to assist the family in becoming more self-sufficient through the following services: Administers federal Section 8 rental assistance program in all of Anoka County, all of Carver County, all of Ramsey County except for St. Paul, and all of Hennepin County except for Minneapolis, Bloomington, Richfield, St. Louis Park, and Plymouth. Administers other federal and state-funded rental subsidy programs throughout portions of the Twin Cities metropolitan area, including: Bridges, Shelter Plus Care, and Housing Assistance Program. In each of these programs, housing is coordinated with the applicable social service provider for eligible families. Administers federal low-rent, scattered site housing program in the cities of Blaine, Coon Rapids, Maple Grove, Edina, Eden Prairie, Minnetonka, Golden Valley, Shoreview, Roseville, and Plymouth

- Applications: Applications are accepted online only; applications are not available in office and fax or email requests will not be accepted. Applicants needing reasonable accommodation for language assistance or an alternative format should make a request prior to the waiting list being opened. - General information: call, write or email. Most programs have extensive waiting lists and applications are accepted at specified times only. Call the administrative number for specific information. NOTE: Starting May 1st, 2025 participants should log into WaitlistCheck.com/Metro using their username and password to view the application status. "Active" means the participant was selected in the lottery and are on the waitlist. "Inactive" means the participants were not selected in the lottery. Individuals should also receive a letter for their records". Individuals can call the wait list phone number with questions.
