Family Caregiver Connection - Anoka County Human Services - Community Social Services and Behavioral Health Department
- Educational forums about caregiving provided to the community - In-home Respite Services: Volunteer provides companionship for adult care recipients for 2 - 4 hours per week. Provides respite from caregiving responsibilities to individuals providing 24 hours/7 days a week care. - Powerful Tools for Caregivers Classes: 6 sessions designed to provide caregivers with skills they need to take care of themselves - The Gathering: Out-of-home group respite program for caregivers and adult care receivers. Gives caregivers the opportunity to have several hours' respite. Members of Anoka County faith communities have the opportunity to share in the care of the community's seniors. Volunteers supervised by a registered nurse operate the program. Participants enjoy fellowship, lunch and activities while caregivers enjoy support group meetings, education and time away from caregiving. Caregivers may attend support group meetings whether their loved ones participate in The Gathering or not.
