Housing Stability Services - Eviction Prevention - Community Mediation Minnesota
Provides mediation services to assist in resolving conflicts between tenants and landlords as an alternative to court. Not all court cases are appropriate for mediation but most disputes can be settled using techniques that allow both parties to decide the outcome that works best for them collectively and individually. Mediation services can also help clients work out utility payment plans that enable the utilities to be turned back on. Services for renters include: - Create a plan to catch up on past due and current rent - Improve communication and the relationship with landlords - Maintain housing stability - Negotiate a settlement with property owner/manager Services for property owners include: - Collect lost income - Improve communication and the relationship with their renter(s) - Maintain housing stability for their renter(s) - Negotiate a settlement with renter(s) The program does not provide financial assistance such as rent, mortgage, utilities, or other housing-related costs.
