Emergency Assistance - EA - Ramsey County Financial Assistance Services Department
- Cash-grant program for families with low incomes experiencing household emergencies. Families can receive assistance once every 18 months. The assistance received must resolve the crisis. Families must use their own money first. The amount of assistance provided might not cover the entire emergency, but it can help. - Emergency Assistance (EA) helps with shelter, such as a security deposit or past due rent/mortgage. EA also helps pay for utilities when there is a threat of disconnection. Utilities include electricity, heat, and water. - Those who qualify for Emergency Assistance can receive up to two months' payment for their share of rent/mortgage and up to $1,800 in utility assistance.

Eligibility
- Low-income families - Ramsey County residents who are in economic need and meet eligibility criteria, such as income and asset limits - Individuals must have used 50% of income over the last 30 days for rent and utilities. Some exceptions apply, call for full eligibility screening.
