Description

Offers a variety of programs to make homeownership a possibility for low-income families. Services may include: - Home Stretch Classes: Offers a homeownership training program required for participation in order to receive financial assistance - Minnesota City Participation Program: In partnership with Minnesota Housing, the program offers affordable first-time homebuyer loans through participating lenders in Blue Earth County. A variety of loan programs are for homebuyers, including down payment and closing costs loans up to $18,000. - Owner Occupied Rehabilitation Program: A home improvement program for low to moderate income households who qualify. The program may provide zero interest loans of up to $35,000 per property, no monthly payments, and the loan can be forgiven after 10-years. - Partnership Community Land Trust: In partnership with the Southwest Minnesota Housing Partnership, the program offers a path to homeownership through a community land trust where a new home build or a purchase of an existing one is leased to a low-income household for a small fee. This program makes homeownership affordable by lowering the mortgage, down payment, and closing costs.
