Camp Support Programs and Activities - Camp Odayin

Camp Odayin provides camp experiences for children with heart disease and their families. Year-round programs include: - Family Camp: For Heart Heroes and their families in grades 12 and younger. Provides two weekends of camp with creative and friendship-building activities. Educational opportunities are available to parents. - Parent Retreats: For parents of Heart Heroes in grades 12 and younger. Dads Day provides a day of outdoor recreation and connection in Prior Lake, MN. Moms Retreats occur in both White Bear Lake, MN and Lake Geneva, WI for a weekend of mutual support and self-care. - Summer Camp: For Heart Heroes in grades 1-11. Sessions are held in Crosslake, MN and another session in Elkhorn, WI. Provides an 5-day overnight day camp experience that includes horseback riding, water sports, arts and crafts, archery, campfires, talent show, and more. - Winter Camp: For Heart Heroes in grades 1-12 held in February. Provides activities such as tubing, broom ball, arts and crafts, connecting with friends, and indoor activities. Kids are grouped based on age for activities and stay in retreat-style housing.

Application process

- Sign up online to be notified when registration is open; visit website or social media about registration details - Summer Camp: Registration available in early March and early May - Family Camp: Registration is available in August and due approximately three weeks prior to camp - Moms Retreat and Dads Day: Registration available 6 weeks prior to sessions - All other camp activity registration may vary and are listed on the website

Fee

- Pay-What-You-Can model is available for camp registrations. There will always remain an option to pay $0. - Travel reimbursement for all programs; free bus transportation is available for summer and winter camp

Required documents

Application/registration form; Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or 504 plan for summer and winter camp programs; medical history and immunization records; recent cardiologist visit notes and approval letter

Eligibility

Serves children with heart disease and their families. Must have been diagnosed with heart disease as their primary physical health diagnosis, seen by a cardiologist on a regular basis, on cardiac medication, or has had surgical intervention. Other eligibility requirements will apply for in-person camp activities.
