Child Protective Services - Brown County Human Services

Accepts and responds to and/or investigates reports of child abuse, neglect, or abandonment. Services may include: - Accepting reports of abuse - Assessment of the initial referral - Consultation to individuals who suspect abuse - Consultation with the family to determine the nature of the problem - Dependency investigation - Ongoing support services for children and their families - Temporary placement of children who are removed from the home? - Works with the family toward unification or reunification ?NOTE: In addition to taking reports, child protection screeners are available to explain the reporting statutes, answer questions regarding agency practices and discuss other resources and strategies when reports do not meet criteria for assignment for child protection investigation.
