Juvenile Court - Hennepin County Fourth Judicial District Court
- Handles juvenile proceedings concerning people under 19 years of age who have been charged with a delinquent act, status or traffic violation, adoption, certification to adult court and adults in child protection matters. - Delinquency matters - Has authority to terminate a parent's custody or rights to a child. NOTE: Most traffic, boating, skateboarding, fishing and rollerblading citations involving a minor are handled through the Juvenile Court. Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) citations for children under 16 years of age are handled in Juvenile Court and for ages over 16 are handled in Criminal Court. - CHIPS - Children in need of protection or services. CHIPS petitions include education neglect, truancy, runaway (absenting) and abuse or neglect.
