Children and adults who are living with a disability, are veterans, or first responders who are residents of Aitkin, Carlton, Cook, Isanti, Itasca, Kanabec, Koochiching, Lake, Mille Lacs, Pine, Saint Louis County counties in Northeastern Minnesota

North Country RIDE is a volunteer-based organization that provides therapeutic horseback riding for people ages 5 - 78 with diagnosed physical, cognitive, emotional or behavioral disabilities. Also offers therapeutic programs for Veterans and first responders. Volunteers must be 14 years of age or older. Clients who have previously participated have had a variety of special needs, including those with:
  • ADD and ADHD
  • Autism spectrum disorder
  • Blindness
  • Cerebral palsy
  • Depression
  • Developmental disabilities
  • Down syndrome
  • Epilepsy
  • Fetal alcohol syndrome
  • Language delays
  • Partial paralysis
  • Schizophrenia
  • Sensory Integration dysfunction
  • Traumatic brain injury
