Emergency Assistance - EA - Watonwan County Department of Human Services
Cash-grant program for families with low incomes experiencing household emergencies because of fire, flood, storm, illness, accident, theft, utility shut-off, eviction, foreclosure, moving expense, necessary home repairs, or need for furniture or appliance replacement or repair. Families can receive assistance once every 12 months. The assistance received must resolve the crisis. Families must use their own money first. The amount of assistance provided might not cover the entire emergency, but it can help. NOTE: Client may also be eligible for Emergency Minnesota Supplemental Aid, Emergency General Assistance, and/or Emergency Medical Assistance

Eligibility
- Low-income families - Residents of Watonwan County - Household must consist of a caregiver and at least 1 child under age 18 or up to age 19 if in high school - Income must be under 200% of the federal poverty guideline - Applicant must not have received Emergency Assistance (EA) or Emergency General Assistance (EGA) in the past 12 months - Household must have spent 50% of net income over the past 60 days on basic needs - Applicant must have been a resident of Minnesota for at least 30 days
