Emergency General Assistance - EGA - Olmsted County Child and Family Services

NOTE: Funding is currently not available for this program until July. Cash-grant program for adults with low incomes experiencing a household emergency. Adults can receive assistance once every 12 months. The assistance received must resolve the crisis. Adults must use their own money first. The amount of assistance provided might not cover the entire emergency, but it can help. Allowable Expenses: - Housing: Rent and mortgage. Verification of payment overdue or threat of eviction notice required. Assistance for a rental unit damage deposit will not be provided if the adult has already moved into the unit. - Utilities: Verification of pending utility shut-off required Amount of assistance provided is based on household size. Only vendor or protective payee payments will be issued.

Eligibility

- Income below 200% Federal Poverty Guidelines - Disabled individuals ages 18 and older - Individuals who are blind - Individuals who are out of work - Individuals who are refugees or have asylum status - Older adults ages 55 and older - Residents of Minnesota at least 30 days who are current residents of Olmsted County. Migrant workers and their families are exempt from the 30 day requirement if they have worked in Minnesota within the last 12 months and earned at least $1,000 in gross wages in Minnesota.
