Residents of Olmsted County must meet a combination of eligibility requirements set by the Supplemental Security Income - SSI program or General Assistance - GA program to qualify for assistance. There are also income and asset limits. Generally, individuals must be: - Younger than age 65 and have a condition that limits their self-sufficiency. For example, a physical or mental health disability, visual impairment, or chemical dependency. - Older adults ages 65 and older

Depending on the individual's income, they may have to pay a portion of the Housing Support rate directly to their housing provider

Description

Pays for room and board for seniors and adults with disabilities who have low incomes. Aims to reduce and prevent people from living in institutions or becoming homeless. All recipients receive assistance each month to help pay for rent and food. Some recipients also receive Housing Support supplemental funding to provide other services if they don't qualify for home and community-based waiver programs, including but not limited to: - Arranging for medical and social services - Arranging for meetings and appointments - Assistance with transportation - Medication reminders The individual's housing provider receives payments to pay for rent, utilities, food, household supplies, and other necessities.
