- Provides financial assistance to households to pay a portion of their home heating cost. The size of the household grant is based on household size, income, fuel type and energy usage. Grants are sent directly to client's fuel vendor and/or electric vendor - Mail out applications are available - Individuals can and should call now for applications. Starting October 3, applications will be processed in the order in which they were received. The actual money will not be available until November at the earliest, and will be paid out in the order that applications were processed. Depending on the individual's situation, having an application in process with Energy Assistance may be enough to avoid a shut-off
