Transportation Services - Westonka/Hennepin County and Carver County - WeCAB
A network of volunteer drivers who provide safe, affordable, and flexible supplemental transportation for worship services, medical appointments, access to Metro Transit, shopping local businesses (grocery stores, food shelves), community services (volunteer or social events), and running errands. Provides rides 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, depending on volunteer driver availability. Volunteer drivers use their personal vehicles and have passed a background check. There is a rider handbook, and a volunteer driver application and handbook available on the website. Volunteer opportunities include: driver, dispatcher, sponsor, and rider registrar.

- Register online at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/11G2ZlvDqUVl0s2FpaYh-OtYHq8WebGeYEtpeOc1t9NQ/edit?gid=110292386#gid=110292386; riders must be registered prior to making a ride request - A volunteer driver will respond within a week to complete the over-the-phone registration and explain the process. Must be registered to request a ride. - Once registered, call at least 24 hours in advance to make a reservation; Press 1 for Westonka or 2 for Carver County, then Press 1 to schedule a ride, Press 2 to register to be a new rider, Press 3 to register to be a volunteer driver - Provide the dispatcher or answering service name, address from the pick up location, time to be picked up, address of the destination, length of time at this destination, and time to be picked up from this location - When a volunteer driver agrees to provide a ride, the rider will be called by the Dispatcher or the message service and be provided the first name of the driver and the time the driver will pick up the rider - To cancel a ride, call and select either #1 or #2 and state the reason the ride is no longer needed. A rider must cancel a ride by 10:30 am the day prior to a requested ride and by 10:30 am Friday for a ride scheduled for the upcoming weekend and following Monday. - To volunteer as a driver, complete an online application and/or call and Press 3 and leave a message. Inquiries will be responded to within a week.
Fee
- All riders are encouraged to contribute; does not deny rides to individuals who cannot contribute. Suggested contributions are for one-way rides and are based on the number of miles traveled from place of pick-up to destination: 1 - 10 miles $2.50; 10 - 20 miles $5.00; 20 - 30 miles $7.50; 30 miles and over $10.00 - Once a month, riders are sent a contribution invoice with the suggested contribution based on the above and for their use of services in the previous month - WeCAB volunteer drivers are not paid and do not accept money from riders
