Youth Development Programs - Project for Pride in Living - PPL
Offers onsite youth development activities year-round. Direct services provided to youth and families include these core elements: - Literacy focus: literacy interventions are customized to meet the unique needs of each child. - Caring adult tutors: highly-trained, culturally-competent volunteers provide a consistent, 4-hour weekly dosage of programming throughout the year. - Social asset development: youth-driven service learning projects are designed to build competence, confidence, connections, and community. - Strong family engagement: parents are equipped with new skills that bolster their role in advancing their children's learning. - Youth voice: youth are empowered to set behavior expectations, work with their tutors to develop their own goals, and shape program offerings through evaluation. - 21st century skill-building: the program works to build digital literacy and integrates technology, such as laptops and e-readers, to enhance literacy.
