Section 8 Voucher

Rental assistance program that allows eligible households to choose housing in the private rental market. Participants locate a unit that meets program requirements and is inspected for Housing Quality Standards (HQS). Assistance is based on income and family size. The housing subsidy is paid directly to the landlord, and the participant pays the remaining portion of rent. Vouchers are portable and may move with the participant in accordance with program rules.
