Support Groups - Elder Network - Southeast Minnesota
Caregiver Support Group (in-person and virtual options available): Meet with a trained facilitator to discuss common challenges they are facing, successes they are having, encouragement they have to offer, needs that they are seeking resources for, and many other things. This is a safe space for caregivers to meet, so they can improve self-care as well as care of their care receiver. Chronic Conditions Support Group: An opportunity to meet with other people living with a Chronic Condition or Disability to exchange helpful tips, give and receive support, and learn about new resources. Each session offers the opportunity to learn about managing common conditions in later life, as taught by a gerontologist, while also providing valuable social and emotional support from others. Conditions may include but are not limited to: - Arthritis - Depression - Diabetes - Heart disease - High blood pressure - Parkinson's, etc. When Caregiving Ends Support Group: A counselor and Elder Network volunteer uses the book, "After Caregiving Ends, A guide to Beginning Again," to facilitate discussion and help in navigating life after caregiving journey ends. Memory Café in Olmsted County: Memory Café is an opportunity for those with dementia and their caregiver to meet in our community for casual conversation and interaction with other people struggling with memory problems. Provides relaxing activities, crafts, drinks, and snacks.
