Eligibility
  • Children who are preschool age from 3 - 5 years. Children must be 3 or 4 by September 1st. Income-eligible families must meet one of the following criteria: Meet the federal poverty guidelines, have a child in foster care, or the child is homeless. Families who receive MFIP or Supplemental Social Security Income (SSI) will also meet the income guidelines set by the federal government. Head Start also serves income-eligible children who are professionally diagnosed with a disability.
  • Head Start programs are located in Blue Earth, Brown, Faribault, LeSueur, Martin, Nicollet, Sibley, Waseca, and Watonwan counties

Works with families on growth and developmental issues. Head Start promotes school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of children.
  • Offers preschool classroom and home visit experience with a special focus on developing the early reading and math skills needed to be successful in school.
