In Home Family Services Program - North Homes Children and Family Services

An effort to prevent out-of-home placements and reunify families where placement may have occurred. Services are provided by staff family counselors and life skills counselors The following services are available to agency clients: - Parenting education - S.T.E.P. program - S.T.E.P. Teen program - Children's Therapeutic Services and Supports - Child care/child development information - Household/time management skills - Sanitation/hygiene information - Financial/budgeting skills - Crisis/stress management - Social support/assisting clients in developing social networking skills - Self-esteem building - Community resources - Dealing with issues of separation and loss Referrals are made through County Human Services or County Probation Departments - Under the direction of the case manager, the family service providers will meet with clients in their homes as frequently as needed to accomplish the goals listed in the contract for services. The contract goals are established by the family counselor or the social worker, the family and the family service providers. The average length of family service provider involvement will be six months, with exceptions reviewed on a case by case basis
