Behavioral Health Services - American Indian Family Center

Designed to support all generations with services that focus on behaviors and their impact on overall wellbeing; programs provide mental, chemical and behavioral support, case management, and resources. The approach used is holistic and traditional, incorporating healing aspects such as ceremony and traditional practices. - Healing Generations: provides individual, family, and couples therapy for American Indian families. In addition to mental health services, case management services and therapeutic life coaching are also provided to clients. Some services include: - Short and long-term counseling for youth, adults, couples, and families - Healing circles on select topics - Mental health assessments - Community education and workshops on the importance of mental health - Family & Youth Trauma-Focused Groups: provides therapeutic groups focused on healing historical trauma and relationships in families and youth. Supports families to have healthy relationships and cope with stress in a positive way. Conducts groups for ages 7-11 years old and 12-18 years old that are facilitated by therapists. The groups focus on developing skills to manage trauma responses, healthy eating, physical exercise and study skills. - Wakanyeja Kin Wakan Pi (Our Children are Sacred): provides case management, parent education on infant safety and health, nutrition, prenatal education, home visits, connection to resources, and Mother's Circle support group for women who are pregnant or parenting children 13 months or younger. In addition to supportive services throughout and after pregnancy, limited chemical dependency supportive services are also available.

The vision of the American Indian Family Center (AIFC) is to help American Indian families thrive. The AIFC provides culturally specific, holistic services for clients and their families. Programming is defined by the philosophy of the medicine wheel, which teaches four parts of each human being, all being equally important: physical, spiritual, emotional, and intellectual.
