Emergency General Assistance - EGA - Watonwan County Department of Human Services

- Cash-grant program for adults with low incomes experiencing a household emergency. Adults can receive assistance once every 12 months. The assistance received must resolve the crisis. Adults must use their own money first. The amount of assistance provided might not cover the entire emergency, but it can help. - Payment is provided to a landlord for rent payment assistance (must be cost-effective going forward), damage deposit and repairs; or a utility company for shut-offs and medically necessary telephone services NOTE: Client may also be eligible for Emergency Assistance and/or Emergency Medical Assistance.

Eligibility

- Low-income adults who are in an emergency situation - Residents of Watonwan County - Income must be under 200% of the federal poverty guideline - Applicant must not have received EA (Emergency Assistance) or EGA (Emergency General Assistance) in the last 12 months - Household must have spent 50% of net income over the past 60 days on basic needs - Applicant must have been a resident of Minnesota for the past 30 days
