Relative Custody Assistance - Winona County Health and Human Services - Human Service Division

A Relative Custody Assistance Grant is a monthly financial assistance payment administered by Social Services for relatives who take permanent legal and physical custody of children with special needs upon a juvenile court determination that the children are unable to return to their parent's home.

Application process

Call for information and assistance with applying; an application must be filed within 30 days of a transfer of legal custody and MFIP (Minnesota Family Investment Plan) must be applied for before payment can begin

Winona County residents; a relative custodian is a relative or important friend who has permanent legal and physical custody of a child through a transfer ordered by a Minnesota Juvenile Court or a tribal court
