Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program is a supplemental food and nutrition program for low-income pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum women, and infants and young children who are at nutritional risk. ?- Purpose of the WIC Program is to prevent health problems and to improve the health of the program participants during critical times of growth and development. ?- WIC Program provides nutrition education, access to health services, referrals to health and other social services, and vouchers for supplemental foods. ?- Food vouchers list the types and quantities of WIC foods that are consistent with the participant's nutritional needs.

Application process

WIC is not an entitlement program and therefore applicants participate in a screening and assessment process to determine eligibility, call for more information.

Eligibility

Freeborn County residents that are pregnant, postpartum within 6 months of delivery, breastfeeding within 12 months of delivery, or has a child ages birth - 5, and meet income limits.
