Emergency Management Services - Hennepin County Emergency Management

Prepares and responds to emergencies, working with emergency officials and volunteers. Also, works with local, state, and federal agencies on public health emergencies. Emergency preparedness and response include: - Hazard Mitigation: Reduce or cut long-term risk to people and property from natural hazards which involves floods, storms, high winds, wildfires, and earthquakes - Industrial Accidents: Accidents that happen such as pipelines, aviation, nuclear, or hydropower energy hazards - Make a Plan: Online resource information about how to make a plan and prepare for disasters for the public - Natural Disasters: Response to landslides, sinkholes, and earthquakes - Outdoor Warning Sirens: The county activates sirens at the recommendation of the National Weather Service when a tornado warning or strong winds are present - Terrorism: Security threats or actions that threaten public safety and security. Lead by federal, local law enforcement, and security agencies at all levels are responsible for detecting and defending against security threats.
