Adult Protective Services - Freeborn County Human Services

Provides investigation and intervention services on behalf of vulnerable adults who are unable to act on their own behalf, manage their own affairs, or who are in immediate danger of abuse. Types of abuse may be physical, emotional, sexual abuse, unsafe or hazardous living conditions, exploitation, neglect, or abandonment. Services include: - Taking reports and investigates abuse and/or maltreatment - Removal of the individual to safer surroundings - Services necessary to remove the conditions which have created a threat to life NOTE: Complaints, questions, or concerns involving incidents in facilities licensed by the Health Department, such as hospitals, nursing homes, boarding care homes, supervised living facilities, assisted living, and home health agencies can be referred to the Minnesota Board on Aging Ombudsman for Long Term Care.

The Department administers the various cash and medical assistance programs as well as child support; is a member of the Blue Plus, UCare, and SCHA delivering the MA programs; operates a licensed Mental Health Center and Crime Victims' Crisis Center; provides child and vulnerable adult protective services; services to persons with developmental disabilities and chemical dependency; in-home family counseling; provides adolescent (SED) day treatment jointly with the Albert Lea School District and children's mental health services.
